Barnwell County is now accepting applications for the full-time position of County Administrator. The Administrator serves as the chief administrative officer of the County. Work involves administering County policy as established by County Council, directing the personnel and activities of all County departments, managing the preparation of the County budget and performing related administrative and supervisory work as required. This position reports to the County Council. The Administrator serves at the pleasure of Council pursuant to the Barnwell County Council Rules of Procedure.
Qualifications: The Administrator shall be appointed on the basis of executive and administrative qualifications with special reference to actual experience in, and knowledge of, the duties of the office as hereinafter prescribed. A degree in Public Administration or closely related field supplemented by five years of experience in government administration or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. The compensation of the Administrator shall be fixed by the Council. At the time of appointment, the Administrator need not be a resident of the County or of the State.
