Job Information

Barnwell County is now accepting applications for the full-time position of Probate Clerk. Under occasional supervision, performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks in support of efficient and effective court operations. Receive and record court fees, coordinate with attorneys to schedule court hearings. Process, record and index marriage license applications; file, record and send correspondence on mental health and chemical dependent records. Monitor Conservator and Adult Guardianship files to make sure reports are filed properly and on time. Monitor Estate files and send out necessary correspondence. Must be detail oriented and can focus and work well under pressure as well as complete tasks in a timely manner. Minimum training and experience:
1) requires a high school diploma supplemented by one to two years clerical experience, or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be able to type quickly and accurately. Computer experience is necessary.
2) must have effective communication skills and ability to meet and work well with the public.
