Insurance Options

Barnwell County offers a comprehensive plan of benefits at a cost that is affordable and meets the needs of our employees and their families.  Our health, dental, and vision insurance options are effective the first of the month following the hire date.

Medical

The County offers the choice of two plans, Standard Plan and Savings Plan.  Both coverages included prescription coverage and Basic Life insurance at no extra cost.  Medical insurance is available to all full-time employees and their dependents.  The County shares the premium cost with employees.

Dental

The County offers the choice of two plans, Basic Dental and Dental Plus. Dental insurance is available to all full-time employees and their dependents.  The County shares the premium cost with employees.

Vision

The county offers the choice of one plan for vision.  Vision insurance is available to all full-time employees and their dependents.

Employee Term Life Insurance

The County offers term life insurance to all full-time employees.  Coverage may be purchased in increments of $10,000 up to $500,000. 

Spouse Term Life Insurance

The County offers spouse term life insurance to all full-time employees.  Coverage may be purchased in increments of $10,000 up to $500,000.

Child Term Life Insurance

The County offers child term life insurance to all full-time employees for their eligible child or children in the amount of $15,000.

Long Term Disability

The County offers long term disability to all full-time employees.  This coverage provides income protection of up to 65% of the employees monthly salary after 90 or 180 days of approved disability.  The County shares the premium cost with employees.

Flexible Spending Accounts

The County offers flexible spending accounts to all full-time employees.  FSA's allow employees to pay for out-of-pocket health and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. This allows the employee's taxable income to be lower.  The IRS sets limits for these FSA accounts annually.
