Solid Waste Management & Recycling

Solid Waste Management & Recycling is responsible for maintaining the Barnwell County Landfill and Convenience Sites and ensuring that all solid waste generated in Barnwell County is disposed of in accordance with State and Federal Laws.

The Barnwell County Landfill is located at 155 Landfill Rd in Blackville.  The Landfill is open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday, and from 8am to noon on Saturdays. The landfill is closed on Sundays. 

When entering the landfill, please proceed with caution and check in at the weigh station so that your vehicle can be weighed prior to offloading any waste. Our wonderful staff will be glad to provide instructions once you are on site at the landfill for where to go next.  Our landfill is a Class Two Landfill per SC DES Landfill Classification and we accept a wide variety of waste and debris. There are eight (8) Convenience Sites located throughout the County.  Sites are open every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7am to 7pm.

Sites Collect

• Cans (aluminum, steel)
• Paper (cardboard, paperboard, newspaper and inserts, magazines, mixed office paper)
• Plastic bottles and jugs (#1 to #7), plastic nursery containers
• Glass (brown, green, clear), lead-acid, and Ni-Cd batteries 
• Scrap metal (aluminum, steel), white goods, antifreeze, used oil, filters and bottles, tires, textiles, latex paint, cooking oil

Recycling Information

The Barnwell County Landfill is now accepting electronic waste from citizens. Large quantities can be taken to North, SC. Global Recycling will go to the facility to pick up and package large quantities of electronic waste. There is a fee for this service. You can call 800-933-0319 for more information.
