Annual Budget

The Finance Office assists the County Administrator in creating and maintaining the County's Annual Budget. 

Budget Process

Departments prepare their budget requests at the beginning of the year for analysis and review by the County Administrator.  Working with the Finance Director, the County Administrator creates a Proposed Budget for County Council's review and approval. 

The Proposed Budget is then reviewed by County Council's Finance Committee. After receiving approval from the Finance Committee, County Council reviews the Administrator’s Proposed Budget and makes any changes they deem necessary.

The Budget is adopted by County Council via ordinance by June 30 of the current year. South Carolina law requires a public hearing and three separate readings (votes) of the budget ordinance by County Council.
